City of Greater Geraldton announces 60 artists are finalists in the Mid West Art Prize

Sixty artists have been announced as finalists in the two-yearly Mid West Art Prize, which carries a total prize pool of more than $25,000. Artists will be competing across five categories, sharing a combined prize pool of $26,500, as the event enters its eighth edition. City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune commended all 60 artists in the running. “Mid West Art Prize is our signature art event and showcases the unique talents we have here in our State,” he said. “Congratulations to those whose artworks have advanced to the next stage of the competition, and thank you to all those artists who stepped up and entered their work. The shortlist selection panel included Carola Akindele-Obe, Eve York and Julia Remmert, and was hosted by the North Midlands Project. The City thanked its 2023 sponsors, Yamaji Art, Bowman Bright and Latitude Jewellers. Anticipation is building for the Mid West Art Prize’s opening night on Saturday, December 9.
