Eight community groups will share in more than $70,000 of funding in the latest round of the City of Greater Geraldton’s Community Grants program.

Round 29 winners include Geraldton Softball Association, Little Things for Tiny Tots, Foodbank of WA, Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton, Mid West Sports Federation, Geraldton Surf Life Saving Club, Geraldton Windsurfing Club, and Geraldton Little Athletics Centre.

Mayor Jerry Clune acknowledged the impact not-for-profit community groups, clubs and organisations had on the region.

“Greater Geraldton is home to some truly innovative and passionate groups who put in the hard yards to enrich our community,” he said.

“Our Community Grants program has been supporting these groups for many years now, and it’s our pleasure to do so.

“The latest crop of successful community grant funding recipients have some phenomenal projects in the pipeline and I cannot wait to see them come to life.”

The community grants are available up to twice a year and allow those successful to fund 50 per cent of the total costs of a project or a maximum of $20,000, whichever is lowest.

This year’s crop of recipients will use their cash to upgrade facilities, offer cooking classes for healthier outcomes, and driver education, as well as to stage awards and a range of sporting events.

Round one applications are now open for the City’s Community Project Support program.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday, November 10. Applications will be notified of the outcome by late December.
