Coles closure disrupts Geraldton shoppers

Coles supermarkets across the country closed their doors this afternoon due to a technical glitch processing payments. Samantha Hedlam-Moffat had planned to buy some baby formula from Coles, but when she arrived the doors were closed. “I was a bit shocked,” she said. She later found out from her sister it closed about an hour prior and that she was inside the store when the glitch occurred. “She tried to go to the cash register and they told her she couldn’t pay for her items,” she said. Ms Hedlam-Moffat said it was a little bit frustrating, but they would just visit another supermarket in town. A Coles spokesman told The West Australian the error had affected the supermarket’s cash register-system and they could not accept cash or card payments. “Coles supermarkets are being closed temporarily due to a technical issue with processing payments in our stores,” he said. “Our team is working hard to fix the issue, and stores will reopen as soon as possible. “We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience.”
