Community aged 15-25 urged to register for Shoot for Success basketball tournament at Spalding Park

Spalding Park will be transformed into a vibrant hub of sports, music, and community engagement at the weekend during a free basketball tournament, with popular Yamatji rapper Razzy Mak making an appearance. Headspace invites people aged 15-25 to register for the family friendly day in the park, with games kicking off at the revitalised Spalding basketball courts on Saturday from 1pm. Shoot for the Stars will see teams of five competing for a chance to win a trophy and $100 voucher for Intersports Geraldton. Yamatji rapper and content creator Rizalie Mcintosh (Razzy Mak), who boasts a following of more than 11,000 for his humorous Facebook clips, will perform live music at the event. The influencer is popular in the Indigenous community and is sure to keep competitors and the audience smiling as he commentates games. Headspace Geraldton community awareness and engagement officer Louis Marcel-Jones said the event aimed to promote physical activity and create an opportunity for community members to show their support to young people competing in a healthy way. “The event is about bringing people together for some sports, music and fun, while also showcasing the new basketball courts which look amazing,” he said. Mr Marcel-Jones said he hoped to see families join in the fun, and rally behind competing youth in a supportive and nurturing environment. “We are also hoping to see some great sportsmanship, and obviously some close games of basketball,” he said.
