Contemporary blues singer-songwriter Shaun Kirk performs in Geraldton next week after releasing new EP

A Melbourne-based contemporary blues artist will perform in Geraldton as part of an Australian tour next weekend following his recent sell-out tour Worth the Weight. Singer-songwriter Shaun Kirk, 34 will return to the stage after COVID lockdowns halted the country’s live music scene, performing in Geraldton at the gallery space on 133 Marine Terrace on Saturday, November 19. Kirk announced his forthcoming Holding Onto Hope single release in July, inspired by the tumultuous events of 2020. The release date marked the one-year anniversary of Melbourne’s 112-day lockdown, a time Kirk said was “one of the most confronting and challenging times” of his life. The one-man, multi-instrumentalism performer combined gritty vocals, vintage guitar, drums and harmonica in previous performances. This will be Kirk’s third visit to the Mid West, performing at Nukara Music Festival and Cutler and Smith in the past. Kirk said his main inspiration for his music was life in general, and didn’t like to box himself into a genre of blues and soul, but considered himself a general singer-songwriter. The live show follows the musicians 2019 EP featuring singles Howlin’ at the Moon and Save My Soul, with sold-out shows across Australia and New Zealand in 2018. Kirk said his last Geraldton visit flourished great times with great people, and he looked forward to getting back here next week. “It sounds like the gallery space is going to be a bit different,” he said.
