Strathalbyn Christian College students are raising money to build a school bike track.

Students will ride a 750m or 1.6km course around Muir Park and the school grounds as many times as they can for sponsorship.

Bike-A-Thon was developed by former teacher Pat Calwell 37 years ago to encourage an active lifestyle among 1980s students and has since become a way to raise money for school resources.

This year, proceeds will fund a school river bike track for students to ride on at recess and lunch. If funded, the track will also be open to the public after school hours.

The event will be held on May 22. Contact the school to donate.
