Demons hope to bring the heat as B52s prepare for derby in round three of the Geraldton water polo season

Both the B52s and Demons A-grade men’s side will be looking to build on their impressive start to the 2022 water polo season as round three starts this weekend. Demons fresh from their 12-4 victory over Rats and B52s putting in a great performance to get the draw with country week. Women’s A-grade games feature all the sides with all games to be played this evening. Serpents will take on B52s and Demons will face Rats. B52s’ Tenielle Hawke will be hopeful of replicating her round-one scoring form with partner Ellie Pead. Both B52s and B52s Relics men’s B-grade sides will be looking to build on their round two defeats of Demons and Rats, respectively. The B52s derby should be an exciting game to watch while Rats and Demons side looking to put defeats in their rear view mirror. In women’s B-grade, Demons are confident after their win against Serpents in round 2, while Rats and B52s sides will be regrouping after their 7-7 stalemate. Both men’s and women’s C-grade matches will be looking to repeat the excitement of the first two rounds. Demons Gold are looking for their first victory after their mauling last round by a Rats Orange and Rats Black are aiming to continue their winning form with another Demons scalp. Men’s C-grade sides B52s White and Demons will be looking to build on their round two wins. Geraldton Water Polo Association spokesperson Julia Gourley said everyone involved was excited about the upcoming season, both with the juniors’ and seniors’ development. “The start to the season is in full force, all teams have hit the water and are coming out strong,” she said. “130 Dolphin and Flippa ball players started round two off on Friday which is our introduction to water polo for children from pre-primary to Year 6.” Gourley said this weekend could give a big insight into where the teams were at. “After this weekend A- and B-grade teams would have played each other once with the headliner game being A-grade men premiership holders Demons against the B52s,” she said. “Demons have Joel Cross returning this season and we have seen Ben Saunders back, both are integral players to the strong Demons team, while Todd Houwen will lead a strong B52s senior and emerging junior A-grade team again this season. “B52s player Duck Smith, who is the top-ranked centre-forward in the league, will be a pivotal player and we will be watching out for Leo Prout, an up-and-coming junior who scored two goals in round one against A-grade team Rats.” The 2022-23 season is shaping up to be the most exciting yet.
