Department of Fire and Emergency Services attend small scrub fire in Spalding near NW Coastal Highway

Firefighters attended a small scrub fire in Spalding near North West Coastal Highway on Thursday morning after reports of smoke in the area. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services received a call about 7.45am reporting smoke coming from the back of a property at the crossroads of Strickland Street and Mitchell Street in Spalding. A DFES spokesperson confirmed crews from Geraldton Fire Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the fire before 8am. “It was a location of a previous fire and was potentially a hotspot that reignited,” the spokesperson said. The crews confirmed the “small scrub fire” was contained and the area was safe.
