Dominant Rovers down Towns in GNFL round one

Rovers produced a dominant performance in round one of the GNFL season on Friday night, defeating the Towns, 14.16 (100) to 2.1 (13) at WA Country Builders Stadium.

Towns got off to a bright start in the game, kicking two goals to the Rovers four behinds to take the lead heading into quarter time.

However, it was all the Rovers from then on as they kicked seven unanswered goal in the second quarter while the Towns could only manage a behind.

The Rovers were able to keep the Towns scoreless for the rest of the match as they piled on 51 points in the third and fourth quarter.

The best players on the ground for the Rovers were Christopher Scott, Gabriel Parfitt and Glen Prosser.

Top goal kickers, Shannon Cox and Christopher Scott both chipped in with four goals.

Meanwhile on Saturday, a clinical Northampton side defeated Chapman Valley 121 to 51 at Mazzucchelli Oval.

The Rams kicked 19 goals and seven behinds to Chapman’s seven goals and nine behinds.

Nathaniel Mourambine grabbed himself eight goals for the match while Beau Walker kicked five.
