Dongara District High School, Geraldton Grammar School get sneak peek at WASO’s Geraldton rehearsal

Mid West school students had a sneak peek on Thursday at the WA Symphony Orchestra’s rehearsal, including the 300-year-old Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, ahead of its Geraldton concert. WASO held the first stop on its Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Tour at the Queens Park Theatre on Thursday night, performing pieces by Mozart, Beethoven and Vivaldi. The orchestra spent the day before the performance nailing their tunes and allowed two Mid West schools to watch an open rehearsal in the morning. The rehearsal went in the order of the Four Seasons Tour concert order — Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro: Overture first, then Beethoven’s Symphony No 8, then Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons — for Dongara District High School year 3-6 and Geraldton Grammar School year 5-6 students. The orchestra is in its second year of a three-year regional tour commitment supported by the Government regional touring grant Playing WA. WASO is set to return from October 31 to November 4 for a series of ensemble performances across aged-care centres, high schools and primary schools around Geraldton and Dongara.
