A 42-year-old man who was allegedly caught carrying three kitchen knives and a baseball bat on a Dongara street early on Saturday morning has been refused bail.

A member of the public called police after spotting him banging on the door of a home on Waldeck Street about 2.30am.

Officers found him nearby a short time later and conducted a search, allegedly finding methamphetamine as well as the weapons, which were not concealed.

Dongara police said the man, from Dongara, was arrested without incident.

He was charged with carrying an article with intent to cause fear and possessing a prohibited drug.

He appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court later that day where he was remanded in custody to reappear at a later date.
