Dongara’s Roxanne Roux is staying west as the forward is traded to the West Coast Eagles

Dongara-born former Fremantle forward Roxanne Roux is staying in the west after a trade sent her to the West Coast Eagles. Roux was traded to the Eagles along with pick 27 in the draft in exchange for Eagles midfielder Aisling McCarthy. She played just five games this season and spent a majority of her time in the backline. The 22-year-old joined the Dockers after being selected at 12 overall in the 2019 AFL draft and made her debut in round one of the 2020 season, kicking a goal in her first game. Roux started her career red hot, kicking four goals over her first three career games, earning a rising star nomination, and was named to the 22under22 team in 2020. A change of scenery is set to reinvigorate her career as she joins a struggling Eagles side that finished 17th on the ladder after going 2-8. Eagles AFLW list manager Jordan Loxley said they were excited to bring Roux into the team. “We are delighted to bring Roxy into the club,” Loxley said on the Eagles website. “Roxy was the first selection in WA in her draft year and someone we were really disappointed to miss out on so we are now thrilled to be able to call her an Eagle. “Roxy has a huge amount of talent and great versatility, which is something we really value, and we believe has her best football ahead of her. In her career, Roux has appeared in 37 games, kicking 16 goals and 11 behinds.
