Diners and late night shoppers got more they bargained for when a man went for a naked run down Geraldton’s Marine Terrace recently.

Witness and musician Zain Laudehr said he was finishing up a live gig at Freemasons Hotel around 9pm when a man stripped down to his birthday suit and streaked up and down the mall.

“The police were on shift change at the time and three paddy wagons, an undercover car, two bicycle police and about 12 foot-patrol officers attended the scene,” he said.

“It was quite random and sudden and really funny.”

Police allege the 57-year-old man, who appeared intoxicated at the time, had been refused entry only moments earlier by hotel staff.

Mr Laudehr said it was harmless fun until his nephews and nieces saw the incident while helping him pack up his music equipment.

“They were offered by the Freemasons to stay inside away from the whole ordeal until the guy put his clothes on and the area was safe, so a huge thank you to Freemasons staff for their quick thinking,” he said.

Police said the man was charged with disorderly conduct and issued a criminal code infringement.
