Driver charged over passenger’s death

A Perth driver has been charged over a crash near Dongara on Saturday which led to the death of a Mullewa woman, a passenger in his vehicle.

The 28-year-old Swan View man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on May 5.

Police said the accident happened when a Peugeot 206 convertible and a Ford Territory SUV collided about 6.30am on Brand Highway at Yardarino, near the Kailis Road turn-off.

The 28-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Peugeot, was airlifted to Geraldton Regional Hospital but later died from her injuries.

The Peugeot driver and the occupants of the Ford – a female and a male – were treated at Dongara Hospital for minor injuries.
