Driver faces multiple charges

A motorist has been charged with three driving offences in relation to an incident in Utakarra and Wandina last night.

Police allege the driver failed to stop for police on Abraham Street, Utakarra, about 10.30pm.

He then allegedly drove through several streets before abandoning his car at the end of Verita Road, Wandina.

A 23 year old Wandina man was later arrested and charged with reckless driving to evade police, evading police and unlicensed driving.

In an unrelated traffic matter, a Wonthella man has been fined $600 for driving with an expired work order.

Meanwhile, Geraldton police have urged householders to secure their properties after several reports of thefts from sheds in Wonthella, Rangeway and Webberton.

“Thieves are opportunistic and looking for a quick ways to steal your property,” a police spokesperson said.

“Securing your shed, garages and storage areas by using a good quality lock to makes it harder for those thieves.

“Together we can make it tougher for crooks.

“Geraldton police ask community members to report suspicious behaviour to police on 131 444 or Crimestoppers 1800 333 000.”
