A motorist was embarrassed but otherwise unhurt when her 4WD mounted a kerb and hit the window of a Geraldton bank before it opened this morning, cracking the plate glass.

An ANZ spokesman said the accident happened at the Chapman Road branch because of an accelerator and brake “mishap”.

He said the middle aged woman immediately contacted the bank, police and her insurer.

“There was nothing more to it than that,” he said.

“It’s an insurance repair job.”

The spokesman said the window was not breached and there was no threat to the bank’s security.

The bank was open as usual today.

The presence of a security guard at the bank today was not related to the incident, the spokesman said.
