Driver of car that collided with newspaper delivery truck in Muchea allegedly fled scene bloodied, on foot

The owner of a truck company delivering the Geraldton Guardian from Perth on Monday night has recounted a scary collision one of his workers had with another motorist who allegedly fled the scene bloodied and on foot. A man driving a Honda CRV station wagon allegedly crashed into the delivery truck on Muchea Bridge, north of Perth, about 10.30pm on Monday night. WA Police are investigating the incident on Brand Highway, near Great Northern Highway. The truck belonged to Perth News Freight and Distribution, which delivers the Geraldton Guardian. The 40-year-old driver of the Honda CRV station wagon was injured in the collision, and allegedly left the area on foot before being located with his dog by police. The man obtained a head injury as a result of the crash and was conveyed to Joondalup Health Campus. Police inquiries remain ongoing. Kevin Burley owns the truck company whose vehicle was involved in the crash, and informed the Geraldton Guardian of the incident on Tuesday morning. Mr Burley said bystanders stopped when they saw the crash, and encouraged the driver of the car to stay at the scene. “He was bleeding profusely from the head and neck. He was sitting in the car trying to start it, meanwhile half the car is missing,” he said. Mr Burley said the driver of the car “took off into the bushes”. “Our truck driver is OK, he’s shaken up but he’s not injured,” he said.
