The East Fremantle Sharks are preparing for their third straight WAFLW grand final, but it will be a first for Northampton’s Tiani Teakle.

The Sharks will face Claremont for the third straight year in the 2024 premiership decider, with each side having one win and East Freo the most recent victors.

East Fremantle are no strangers to featuring Mid West talent, with several players from the region lining up for the Sharks over the years, and Teakle has become another star for the club.

During the side’s finals win over Claremont just two weeks ago, Teakle was one of the best on ground with 17 disposals, five marks and four tackles.

Over the season, Teakle has averaged 9.5 disposals, three marks, 1.9 tackles, and three hit-outs per game while kicking 10.4.

The Sharks will have the chance to claim their second straight WAFLW title with the help of Teakle when they face the Tigers on Sunday at Pentanet Stadium in Joondalup, with bouncedown at 2.08pm.

While her season is over, Brigades product and Swan Districts’ Courtney Zappara has won the Joanne Huggins leading goal kicker award.

Zappara kicked 22 goals for Swan Districts this season, making her the clear leader, with runner-up Poppy Stockwell coming in with 20.

She falls just short of her season total from last year of 23 goals, but also played one less game this season than she did last year.
