Editor’s Desk: Don’t forget what’s most important about Easter, and I’m not talking about chocolate

Easter means different things to different people — depending on your religious beliefs, your love of chocolate and hot cross buns and whether you’re in the lucky majority to score a four-day long weekend. But we should all agree on one thing when it comes to Easter. If you are fortunate enough to have the time off, use it wisely and safely. Spend it with loved ones if you can, and prioritise quality time with them over bingeing on chocolate. If you are travelling on the roads this Easter, have safety at the forefront of your mind, rather than what time you have to be at your destination or the frustrations about how busy it is. Get there in one piece and let’s all aim for a safe Easter, where no families have to hear the life-shattering news that they’ve lost a loved one because of speeding, fatigue, distraction or impairment. However you are spending your Easter break, revel in the stunning weather that we’re forecast to have. Sublime conditions in the mid-30s on Friday and Saturday, we’re told, before it heats up a bit and becomes a bit windy. And if you know someone who might be feeling a bit lonely this Easter, why not reach out to them? At least let them know that you are thinking about them. So, my message to readers is have a good Friday, great Saturday and glorious Sunday and Monday before life resumes to normal. It’ll be Christmas before we know it!
