Fake firearms, substances and octopus bong seized in Geraldton police raid of Mount Tarcoola house

Geraldton police have seized a cache of replica firearms, including a grenade launcher and AK-47, as well as unknown substances during a house raid in Mount Tarcoola last week. As a result of the raid, police have summoned a 24-year-old man to court on eight charges. Last Friday, local police executed a search warrant at a property on Cripps Way in Mount Tarcoola after allegedly receiving internal intel relating to drugs at the address. Geraldton police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Chris Martin said police entered the premises and allegedly located illicit drug smoking implements, unknown substances and replica firearms. It is understood by police the seized items were fake firearms including a grenade launcher, crossbow, AK-47 and a handgun, a fake suppresser attachment and an octopus shaped bong. Sen. Sgt Martin said at this stage police suspect the substances were controlled drugs and forensic testing would confirm. “Police were acting upon Crime Stoppers information and suspected the suspect of the premises was concerned in the supply of controlled drugs,” he said. Sen. Sgt Martin alleged the seized substances included three clip-sealed bags containing a “crystallised material” police believe was methamphetamine, a bag of cannabis seeds and four clip-sealed bags containing “suspicious materials” yet to be forensically examined. A 24-year-old man was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession or cultivation of a prohibited plant, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a silencer. He will appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court at a later date.
