A man charged in relation to a crash last month which killed a Mullewa woman has made his first court appearance.

Donald Joel Wallam, 28, of Swan View, appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on May 5 via video link from Perth.

He is charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, two downgraded charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and one count of no authority to drive.

Mr Wallam was not required to enter pleas and the matter was adjourned to June 16 at the Perth Magistrates Court.

He was granted bail with a $5000 surety.

The charges relate to a collision involving a Peugeot 206 convertible, allegedly driven by Mr Wallam, and a Ford Territory SUV, on the Brand Highway near Dongara on Saturday, April 8.

An occupant of the Peugeot — Patricia May Slater, 28, — was airlifted to Geraldton Hospital but died from her injuries.

The occupants of the Ford — a female and a male — were treated at Dongara Hospital for minor injuries.
