A 19-year-old Dianella woman died in a single car crash at Tardun on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened about 6am on Pallotine Road, about 140km east of Geraldton and 40km south-east of Mullewa.

Police said the woman was driving a white Toyota HiLux in a westerly direction when the car crossed onto the incorrect side of the road and into a dirt embankment.

The woman was the sole occupant in the vehicle.

A St Johns Ambulance spokesman said a member of the public provided CPR until ambulance officers arrived, but the woman was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crash Unit are investigating.
