Festival headliners and indie rockers Old Mervs playing in Geraldton at The Wintersun on Friday night

No two gigs are the same, and that’s definitely the case for WA indie rockers Old Mervs, who are playing in Geraldton this weekend, and in several months time will be jetting to New York to join some of the biggest names in the business.
Geraldton fans will see Old Mervs play at the Wintersun Hotel on Friday night, and the band will play at New York’s Governors Ball later this year.
Fans can expect the band’s distinctive guitar and drum arrangements and surf-rock hits.
Comprising David House on guitar and vocals, and Henry Carrington-Jones on drums and backing vocals, the band formed in 2017 in the farming town of Kojonup, where they grew up. Their music videos frequently feature the rural lifestyle of the South West.
They previously played in Geraldton at the start of 2024, right after making their second appearance in Triple J’s Hottest 100 with hit track What You’ve Lost.
They released their self-titled album last March before embarking on a national and New Zealand tour.
After the show, the band will be heading to more rural gigs around Australia, ranging from Dunsborough to Toowomba.
The two-piece band were recently announced as part of the Governors Ball line-up. The festival in June will also feature Aussie favourites Amyl and the Sniffers and Spacey Jane, who have band members originating from Geraldton.
International acts Lorde and A$AP Rocky are also taking part in the US festival.
Tickets to the Wintersun show are available to buy online, through OzTix or oldmervs.com.
