A semi-detached garage in a housing complex in Geraldton has been damaged by a fire.

The alarm was first raised at 3.40pm and three appliances were dispatched to Tamblyn Street, Spalding, by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire has since been put out and neighbouring garages and units were left unscathed.

Police and firefighters are yet to confirm what caused the fire.

It is believed the residents were not home at the time.
