Firefighters called to out-of-control burn-off in Geraldton overnight

Firefighters were called to a controlled burn that escaped a Glenfield property last night.

Two crews from Waggrakine Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade attended the fire, on Chapman road, after it was reported about 9pm.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the blaze was extinguished about 9.20pm.

Firefighters were also called to a fire at a vacant block in Spalding yesterday morning.

Two appliances from Geraldton Fire and Rescue Service responded to the blaze, on Bogle Way, after it was reported about 9.30am.

The spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished just after 10am.
