The Mid West is home to the first live chargers on the WA Electric Vehicle Network, with tourists and locals now having the opportunity to use the fast chargers in Geraldton and Northampton. The 150kW chargers will get drivers back on the road with fill up times as quick as 20 minutes. Geraldton’s two fast chargers are stationed on the Marine Terrace while Northampton’s fast charger and backup charger are at the Visitors Centre in the heart of town. The $21 million project will create the longest EV Network in Australia, stretching more than 7000 kilometres. Energy Minister Bill Johnston said electric vehicle drivers would be able to explore the state without anxiety. “Residents and tourists in the Mid West region will be able to charge their electric vehicles at fast chargers in Geraldton and Northampton.” Geraldton MP Lara Dalton is excited for opportunity this brings the Mid West. “I am thrilled that Geraldton and Northampton have become the first links in the WA EV Network. “This represents a boon for the local tourist industry as well as households and businesses in my electorate,” she said.
