Fists of Fury fight night brings Muay Thai, boxing, MMA to Geraldton
Excited crowds cheered and yelled throughout the evening at Activewest Stadium in Geraldton for a stacked card of fights for charity at Fists of Fury 2: Maximum Impact.
Profits will go to local disability organisation Access to Leisure and Sport, and Cystic Fibrosis WA.
Promoter Paul Barrett said about $7000 was raised on the night — less than the previous event, with capacity capped because of COVID-19.
Derek Goforth, who boxed in the first Fists of Fury event, said he was impressed by the crowd’s support.
“They seemed to pick a fighter and go for them,” he said.
Fighting in his first competitive boxing bout, City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn lost by decision to Tomoana Wijohn from Pacific Mixed Martial Arts in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
