The City of Greater Geraldton will begin replacing a section of footpath in Fitzgerald Street, between Marine Terrace and Lester Avenue, this week.

The work will take place between 7am and 6pm from Wednesday and is expected to last about seven weeks.

A City spokeswoman said 1.14km of footpaths would be replaced after $941,600 was allocated for upgrades in the 2017/18 budget.

She said people were asked to exercise caution in the area while work was under way.
