Eggs Benedict, a breakfast classic, was again on our minds. And this time, Tarts and Co was the chosen destination. Nestled at the end of Marine Terrace, this cosy establishment offers a variety of delightful breakfast options with a unique twist. Despite our expectations, Tarts and Co does not call its dish “Eggs Benedict,” but it sure walks and quacks like one. We ordered “poached eggs, asparagus, and hollandaise on sourdough with fresh spinach,” which, let’s face it, is essentially eggs Benedict. The cost was surprisingly affordable, even with extra smoked salmon and two cappuccinos, coming in at just over $30 for two people. As we arrived during peak hours, we were impressed with the convenient parking and easy accessibility. The service was impeccable, and the friendly server provided extra cutlery and sweeteners with our cappuccinos, which were a fantastic addition to our meal. Although the cafe’s ambiance appeared a tiny bit rundown, the warm smile and prompt service made us feel welcome and appreciated. The star of the dish had to be the sourdough bread, which we think was pan-fried with olive oil, giving it a delightful flavour and crunch. We were so taken with it that the server gave us extra at no charge, an incredibly thoughtful gesture that showcased the staff’s commitment to customer satisfaction. The eggs and smoked salmon were cooked to perfection, with the poached eggs splitting just right to coat the salmon and bread. The sauce was just OK and lacked a bit of flavour, however, it blended the dish nicely and did not detract from the overall experience. In comparison to other Geraldton cafes, Tarts and Co’s coffee was excellent, with the only minor criticism being that one of the cappuccinos could have used a little more foam. Nevertheless, the taste was exceptional and left us both satisfied. Overall, Tarts and Co is a must-visit for breakfast lovers in Geraldton. The friendly service, quirky decor, and unique take on local cuisine are not to be missed. However, we recommend taking their delicious treats as a takeaway and enjoying them at the nearby foreshore, which is only a one-minute walk away. If you’re looking for a new breakfast spot in Geraldton, Tarts and Co is the place to be. The ambiance may be a bit worn-down, but the food and service more than make up for it. From the delicious sourdough bread to the perfectly poached eggs, every bite will leave you craving for more. Don’t miss out on this fantastic culinary experience.
