Geraldton’s recent success at the Hockey Country Championships has not gone unnoticed as four players were selected for the WA State Country teams.

The final WA State Country teams for 2023 were announced recently, with two teams set to travel to Shepparton, Victoria for the upcoming Hockey Australia Country Championships from August 5 to 12.

The final sides were selected following trials and training sessions, as well as showcasing their talents at the recent 2023 CBH Group Men’s and Women’s Country Championships.

Geraldton were the victors in the women’s division one in a thrilling grand final over Upper Great Southern, with four of that team now going to represent the State.

Brooke Elward, Camryn McKoy, Lauren Newman and Holly Stubberfield were all named in the women’s side, with Geraldton supplying the most players to the 18-strong main squad.

With Geraldton only sending a division three team in the men’s competition, none were selected in the men’s squad, despite their success.
