All things “frivolous and utterly nonsensical” are on the Inner Wheel Club of Geraldton’s agenda for the next 12 months.

The new motto — which stands for “fun” — was announced at the club’s recent 2019-20 presidential hand-over night.

And fun was certainly the order of the night, with members dressing up “1960s-style” and writing their recollections of those heady days on a paper-covered wall.

New president Yvonne Lovedee, who took the reins from Lesley Colliver, said the main goal of the worldwide women’s organisation was to promote friendship.

“Sometimes clubs can get a bit serious, so we just thought, let’s do something a little bit quirky,” Ms Lovedee said.

Fun aside, the club also raises money for various charities.

“This year we supported the Women’s Refuge, purchased sleeping bags from Stitches of Hope in Cambodia, which were distributed to the homeless via two local charities, and contributed to Coin for a Cord, the research project of Inner Wheel Australia,” Ms Colliver said.

Coin for a Cord is a national appeal for umbilical cord blood research, which is being used to develop cures for life-threatening diseases.
