Fuel prices rise in Geraldton from all-time low in the lead-up into the Easter long weekend

Despite fuel prices zig-zagging a bit in the lead-up to Easter, motorists filling up before hitting the road for the holiday break would have reasons to show some relief at the bowser. The cheapest fuel price found around Geraldton on Thursday is 171.7¢ per litre at Puma Glenfield and Tarcoola, with the city’s average price at 181.8¢ per litre. Fuel costs dropped on Tuesday to a low of 167.7¢ per litre since the Ukraine and Russian conflict resulted in high fuel costs at the bowser from the end of February. The recent price drop is due to the Federal Government temporarily cutting fuel excise in its 2022-23 Federal budget, from 44.2¢ per litre to 22.1¢ per litre. The Government has only cut the excise for six months. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said the fuel excise cut could save families with two cars $700 over those six months.
