The Hawks will take on the undefeated Chapman Valley as the sides battle for top spot on the ladder on October 8. Valley have had no losses through their first four games of men’s division 1 in the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association season and are clear on top spot. Sitting in second place and hot on their tails are the Hawks, who won their last three after losing the first game of the season by just one point. The Hawks played in a second against third game last week, when they beat the previously second-placed Pumas 83-70. Now they will attempt to climb further up the ladder when they take on Chapman Valley, who are hot off a 90-62 win over Stateside from last week. The next game features Pumas taking on Olympians. Their loss against the Hawks saw the Pumas drop down from second to fourth and now face a red-hot Olympians side who have enjoyed the addition of Johny Narkle to their side for the past two games. In their loss last week the Pumas had a late rally with the combination of Tom Dobson and Harry Evans, but it came too late as they couldn’t pull off the comeback. The first Thursday match in division 1 men’s has two winless teams chasing their first points for the season in Stateside and Trades. The teams currently hold a 0-4 record but both showed strong performances from deep last week. Trades fell short in the three-point shootout against Olympians, putting up 11 of the 25 threes in the game. While Stateside had a strong first-quarter performance in their match up, as Connor Westbrook managed to sink four deep threes in the opening quarter.
