Wanderers impressed in the Geraldton Bendigo Bank Cricket League on Saturday with a convincing 58-run win over Bluff Point.

Wanderers batted first after Kade Gillingham won the toss at GBSC Park and made 9-143, thanks mainly to Zane Marwick (59).

He came in at 1-19 after Ian Oglesby was caught by Aaron Joss off Mitch McAuliffe.

Marwick was the last Wanderers wicket to fall, having added 48 with 15-year-old Colin Culloton, who resisted for 36 balls in making 11.

An unbeaten last wicket stand of 28 between young Digby Williams and Austyn Moulds added handy runs.

Pointers captain Jay O’Brien (4-12 off 10 overs) bowled superbly, pinning Marwick leg before, the last of three wickets he took in six balls.

Jeremy Boase (2-26) chimed in with support from Antonio Paradella, James Morrison and McAuliffe.

The target was gettable but the Pointers wilted. Jayden Pinto (17) hit the first two balls of the reply off Justin Clarkson for four but Clarkson bowled him in his next over.

Cody Doran, Jayden Rafferty and Matt Ireland reached double figures but little else and the Pointers were done for 85.

Marwick (4-18) trapped Doran leg before and later ran through the tail, Rex Heberle (2-3) also shone, while Moulds (1-6 off five overs) showed promise.

Sportsmans’ Riley Barham elected to bowl at Wonthella on Saturday against Chapman Valley-Northampton, who were rolled for only 104.

At 1-49 off eight overs, CVN were well placed but the wheels fell off after Zak Williamson was caught by Clint Yeates off Gus Spalding (2-30).

Englishman Adam Goacher (42) was held by Will Isbister off Spalding and though Nigel Routledge (23) worked hard, wickets kept tumbling.

Jarrod Jupp (3-25) ran through the middle order while Heath Lintern (3-10) mopped up the tail and combined with Matt Greenlees for a run out.

In the chase, Sportsmans breezed to a seven-wicket win in just 15 overs thanks to veteran Glenn Wishart (45 off 31 balls with two sixes and six fours).

He opened with Barham and they belted 41 in only five overs, with Williamson punished.

Then Brad Boyer (2-33) had Barham (15) caught by Goacher and bowled Greenlees.

Wishart was held by Routledge off Mitch Marsh but Sporties cruised home with Ryan Dixon (23 not out) and Yeates unbeaten.
