Geraldton boy charged after bus window smashed with ging

A 13-year-old Karloo boy has been charged with criminal damage after he allegedly smashed a bus window with a ging in Geraldton’s CBD on Tuesday.
Police allege the incident happened following an argument between an Australian Transport bus driver and four boys on Anzac Terrace.
“One of the youths exited the bus and then hit the back of the bus with a scooter,” Sergeant Stu Parsonage said.
“Whilst the driver was checking the damage, the rear window of the bus was smashed with a ging.”
Sgt Parsonage said the boys were identified by CCTV footage and the 13-year-old was arrested yesterday.
He will face Geraldton Children’s Court on July 30.
Police are still investigating the incident and the other boys may also face charges.
Sgt Parsonage said police had ramped up patrols in Geraldton’s CBD during the school holidays in a bid to curb anti-social behaviour.
“You will see an increased presence of police on the streets to try and mitigate this problem,” he said.
