Geraldton Buccaneers fans finally given the chance to celebrate NBL1 West grand final win with the team

The Geraldton Buccaneers finally had the chance to relish their championship victory with their fans earlier this week. After winning the NBL1 West grand final, the Buccs went straight into preparing for the NBL1 national tournament last weekend. They almost made the grand final in that tournament, but fell short on percentage. However, on Tuesday players and staff were back in celebration mode at a fan event. Winning the club’s third title was a big deal for the team and a fitting reward for the hard work they had put in during 2023, but it was possibly an even bigger deal for the loyal Geraldton fans that had packed out Activewest Stadium all season. Coming home from their impressive performance at the NBL1 national tournament, the team was met with cheers and celebrations on Tuesday. After taking a group photo, fans were given the chance to get autographs and photos with the players, while also being able to take photos with the NBL1 West championship trophy. Fan favourite and grand final MVP Johny Narkle said it was good to be home and celebrate with the fans. “It felt good, especially being a local boy coming from Geraldton and representing your team on the national stage, it felt good,” he said. Head coach Dayle Joseph said it was a good sign with all the children that came to show their support for the team. “We say it all the time, the crowd rocks up to our games and they fill the stadium and to have the appreciation today, especially with all the kids, I think it’s great to get them involved and give them something to look up to in the future,” he said.
