The Geraldton Buccaneers’ winning run in the 2022 NBL1 West season continued on Saturday night when they beat the Kalamunda Eastern Suns 88-59 at Activewest Stadium.

The Buccs have opened the season with nine wins in a row and are the only undefeated team left in the competition. They are two games clear at the top of the ladder.

They started the match strongly taking a 21-14 lead at quarter time before pulling away from the Suns with a 22 points to eight second quarter.

The Suns threatened a comeback in the third but the Buccs held strong and extended their lead in the fourth for a comfortable 29 point win.

Malik Meunier stepped up in the absence of Shaun Stewart, scoring a season high 31 points for the Buccs with a field goal percentage of 61.

The result keeps them top of the NBL1 West ladder ahead of second placed side Warwick Senators.

Following their bye this weekend, The Buccs will be on the road again after a streak of home games, facing the Senators at Warwick Stadium on June 11.
