Geraldton Buccaneers’ perfect start to the NBL1 West season continues

The Geraldton Buccaneers have continued their perfect start to the 2022 NBL1 West season, following wins over the Willetton Tigers and Lakeside Lightning on the weekend.

The Buccs are one of four undefeated teams in the competition and sit at the top of the NBL1 West ladder with a 135.70 percentage.

They faced the winless Willetton Tigers on Saturday, coming out 97-64 victors at Willetton Basketball Stadium.

Shaun Stewart impressed for the Buccs with 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists while Cameron Coleman added 20 points and Malik Meunier had 13.

The Buccs then switched their attention to Sunday’s game against Lakeside Lightning, maintaining their undefeated start to the season with 90-64 win at Lakeside Recreation Centre.

Stewart had another impressive match with 22 points, Coleman scored 20 along with his 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, and Mathiang Muo chipped in with 18.

The Buccs have opened the season with four games on the road and will now head back to Geraldton for a run of five home games, with the first against Cockburn Cougars on Saturday, April 30.

Buccs coach Dayle Joseph will be relishing the chance to play in front of a home crowd as his side looks to continue their undefeated run.
