Geraldton Buccaneers secure fifth win of the season and second win at home against the Eastern Suns

The Geraldton Buccaneers climbed into the top four of the NBL1 West after recording their second home win this season in a convincing performance against the Eastern Suns.
After coming off a split road trip, going down against Rockingham before defeating Perry Lakes, the Buccs were looking to fire right out the blocks in their second game of the season at Activewest Stadium on Saturday night.

Already having defeated the Eastern Suns away from home, the Buccs had an added sense of confidence as they searched for their fifth win of the season.
The Buccs got off to a flyer in the first quarter. With early points on the board and pressure on the Suns, they jumped out to an eight-point lead.
Josh Keyes impressed early with quickfire points. He and American import Akeem Springs helped the Buccs get out to a fast start. The Buccs managed to draw their lead out to 10 going into half-time.
Liam Hunt crashed the boards hard with 13 rebounds and put up 14 points in the contest with the Buccs’ big man once again providing a mature performance on the floor.
The Suns got out to a good start in the third quarter with six quick points, leaving the Buccs on the back foot. Springs got the Buccs back into action with a three, sparking the home side back to life.
A flurry of scoring in the fourth quarter saw the Buccs score 19 unanswered points as they stormed home for the win.
Johny Narkle was the standout, with an impressive performance of 25 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Springs followed closely behind with 23 points, three rebounds and one assist.

Keyes also played a key part, with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists, and new recruit Verle WIlliams shined in front of the home fans with the playmaker scoring himself 15 points, five boards and five assists.
