Three small fires that ignited this morning in the Chapman River Regional Park, in Spalding, are being treated as suspicious, according to a Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman.

A member of the public reported the fires, which were burning in the area around the Chapman River bridge, via triple 0 call about 11.45am.

Two crews from the Geraldton Fire and Rescue Service attended a short time later and had the blazes extinguished within about 30 minutes.

They have since left the scene.

The spokeswoman said the fires were each about 20 metres square in size.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
