Geraldton businessman Thomas Graham Greenaway pleads not guilty to theft of almost $2.9 million

A Geraldton businessman accused of stealing almost $2.9 million from a native title claim trust pleaded not guilty in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court today. Thomas Graham Greenaway, 69, is due to appear again on April 2 for a committal date. Magistrate Chris Miocevich agreed to Mr Greenaway’s request for relaxed bail conditions so he could leave WA on business, subject to strict conditions. Mr Greenaway’s bail is $20,000 and he must give the Office in Charge of Geraldton Police 14 days prior notice of any intended trip out of WA, including departure and return dates and destination. His wife agreed to go surety of $200,000, using their home which is in her name as security. Police allege Mr Greenaway stole approximately $2.9 million to partly purchase the lease of a Geraldton hotel. Mr Greenaway resigned as treasurer of the Liberal Party’s Durack division when charged with stealing as a servant.
