Geraldton charges: Drugs, weapons and cash seized in raids targeting bikies

Weapons, drugs and cash have been seized in Geraldton as part of a month-long police operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs across the State. Police say raids occurred in Geraldton over the weekend of June 6 and 7, with two men charged with numerous offences. Police say a 40-year-old White Peak man, allegedly associated with the Mongols motorcycle club, was found with 19 vials of steroids, $42,250 in cash, weapons and drug paraphernalia. He is due to appear in the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on July 2. In a separate raid police charged a 44-year-old Webberton man, allegedly a member of the Coffin Cheaters, with drug offences after he was found with 115 vials of steroids and the prescription drug dexamphetamine. Police say the 44-year-old will appear in court at a later date. Detective Senior Sergeant John Mottolini said the Gang Crime Squad works closely with local police in the crackdown which saw 24 people charged over several weeks. “While the vast majority of outlaw motorcycle gang members live in the metropolitan area, those that live in regional WA play a critical role in the criminal activities of their gangs,” he said. “Regional chapters of outlaw motorcycle gangs may typically be smaller in size, however, their impact on their local community ... is at times magnified due to the small nature of their communities.” Police said information gathered during Operation Distributor, which included raids in Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton and Kalgoorlie, would greatly assist with identifying others involved in criminal activities.
