Geraldton community grants open to help organisations improve wellbeing of city

The latest round of City of Greater Geraldton’s community grants has opened and organisations in need of financial assistance are encouraged to apply. This is the 29th round of funding, which is intended for local not-for-profit community groups. Sporting and recreation clubs and organisations can use the funding on projects, activities and programs that aim to enhance and promote community wellbeing. City of Greater Geraldton mayor Shane Van Styn said the community grants had facilitated positive outcomes in the Mid West. “A community grant can be a real game changer for many of our local organisations and groups as it helps to take many programs, events and activities to the next level,” he said. This round the City is offering to fund up to half of a project to a maximum of $20,000. Projects funded in the previous round included the Geraldton Blessing of the Fleet, Frothin’ Fools Gero Groms Fest 2023, a WAFL match in Geraldton, Dragon Boat Classic and a multicultural concert for Seniors Week 2023. Organisations can have their draft applications reviewed by the City and be given feedback if they are made by Sunday, August 6. The final deadline for submissions is 5pm Friday, August 18. The next round of funding will open on January 8, 2024.
