Cricket resumes under Wonthella Oval’s lights with the first of 10 Young Motors T20 Cup games.

The Friday night fixture is between Sportsmans and Bluff Point, and a key for the Pointers could be Mitch McAuliffe, who is only two wickets shy of 200 in A-grade.

He would fondly recall a T20 four years ago when he took a career best 7-19 which remains T20 record.

For Sportsmans, veteran Clint Yeates is in form. His 73 not out against Bluff Point two weeks ago in a 50-over game was all that prevented a Pointers win.

The T20 clash starts at 6pm on Friday.

Sportsmans and Bluff Point have double duty this weekend as they feature in Saturday’s 50-over games with Sportsmans to play Wanderers at Wonthella.

Wanderers all-rounder Zane Marwick, who last year made 554 runs and took 16 wickets, has started this summer with 59 runs in his sole innings and nine wickets at 3.66.

The Pointers host Towns at Muir Park. Towns seem much the same as last season with few stand-outs with the bat but enough contributors to make winning scores.

In Sunday’s Young Motors Women’s Cricket League, Sporties host Towns at Wonthella.

Sporties should win but may be dented after last week’s big loss to Wanderers while Towns are coming off a morale-boosting win over Chapman Valley Northampton.

Wanderers play CVN at Mazzuchelli Oval — likely a huge Wanderers win especially if CVN is without Kylie Bremner or if she plays but is hampered by injury.

CVN are better with Kate Clarkson to bolster their batting but lack overall depth and Wanderers, with 24 opposition wickets this season at an incredible 5.20, are deadly.

B-grade: Kalbarri v Wanderers (Kalbarri); Towns v Sportsmans (Rec); Dongara v Bluff Point (Dongara).
