Geraldton Detectives have launched a public appeal after a man in a distinctive broad brimmed hat robbed a Geraldton pharmacy armed with a “bladed weapon” on Sunday night.

Investigating officer Det. Sgt Marc O’Neill said a staff member was left “very shaken” after the robbery at Blooms the Chemist.

“The offence was obviously planned,” he said. “The man maintained a very calm demeanour and wasn’t in a rush.”

“This is not a common occurrence in Geraldton.”

On CCTV footage the man can be seen entering the pharmacy around 7.20pm and immediately approaching a staff member with a bladed weapon.

Det. Sgt O’Neill said the incident was over “in a matter of minutes” with the man demanding they hand over property before leaving on foot.

The offender was described as light skinned, with a medium height and build and wearing a short sleeved dark blue shirt, black shorts with a distinctive broad brimmed hat.

Police have tracked the man’s movements after he exited the store heading east down Post Office Lane, crossing Chapman Road and walking through the carpark of Stirlings Central shopping mall.

“There were people in the area while he passed through,” he said. “We would appreciate if these people, or anyone who may recognise him, came forward.”
