Geraldton hockey: Casual stalwart Paul Lalor to celebrate 400th milestone

Four on the floor. It’s got nothing to do with his wheels, rather his sporting passion. Paul Lalor steps out tomorrow to play his 400th game of senior hockey for the same club. Throw in three years with a club in Perth and country week appearances for Geraldton, and he has probably suited up nearer to 500 times. And the only thing casual about Lalor’s record is the name of the club he’s done it for. He’s been a stalwart at Casuals. A partner at Teakle & Lalor, building, design and drafting consultants, Lalor, 41, who plays left-half, said the reason he had taken to the field for so long was his mates. “That’s what it has all been about,” he said. “Playing with friends. “Most in the team have played together for 10 years, some for as long as 20 years.” His favourite memories? “Too many. Club premierships and playing in country week grand finals, mainly against Narrogin,” he said.
