Woolworths has bought the former Utakarra Liquor Barn.

Findlay’s Fresh IGA Xpress Utakarra owner Colin Findlay, on August 12, revealed his liquor store had been snapped up and would reopen as a BWS next to Aldi on North West Coastal Highway, Geraldton.

The 63-year-old put both his Geraldton businesses up for sale in March due to illness. He has had four mini strokes in the last five months.

“I was told to retire now or die soon by my specialist,” he said.

The IGA supermarket, priced at $380,000, has yet to be bought but Mr Findlay said he was in talks with a number of interested parties.

“It’s a very low price, I’m losing money but I have no choice,” he said.
