Cameron Christie thought he was attending a training session with his colleagues from Bosch Car Service Geraldton, but they had something else in mind.

He may have become suspicious when he noticed his brother Grant, sister Penelope, girlfriend Sammy, and parents Karin and Mark there, along with his workmates’ partners.

His boss Steve Norman said they then gave Mr Christie a surprise presentation of the Bosch Apprentice of the Year Award.

“He has just been signed off to trade at the start of May and I received the award on his behalf in Port Douglas last month,” Mr Norman said.

“He had already won Regional Apprentice of the Year last year.”

Mr Christie continues to work for the Webberton automotive workshop as a mechanic.
