Geraldton Motocross Club’s night jam gets thunderous reception

The adrenaline-fuelled engines roared through the stormy skies as the Geraldton Motocross Club hosted an electrifying Motocross Night Jam last Saturday, November 11. Despite challenging weather, riders from near and far, including those making the journey from Perth, converged to revel in the thrill of motocross. The event was a comprehensive showcase of talent and daring feats, featuring the highly anticipated Best Whip Contest, exhilarating Pit Bike racing, and races spanning all skill levels from pitty classes to Vets and A to C-grades. The night was nothing short of fantastic, however the weather momentarily took the reins, pausing the action as lightning and rain demanded a temporary halt. Concerns loomed over whether the full event could unfold, but once the weather eased up, the damp tracks became a motocross enthusiasts dream. Despite stiff competition from other major motorsport events on the same night, the spectator turnout was impressive. Local hero Tate Prime triumphed in the whip competition, narrowly edging out Perth’s Luke Davis, who brought his A-game. Meanwhile, hometown favourite Ricky Edwards dominated the MX2 shootout, while Luke Davis secured victory in the MX1 shootout. The modified track drew praise from riders, especially those from Perth, who marvelled at the layout and the overall event.
