Geraldton nurse helps heal fire wounds

Jodie Boschetti had no idea her idea would “go nuts”. But it did. And animals in the Eastern States affected by fires will be the winners because of the generosity of Geraldton people. Mrs Boschetti, a nurse, launched a plea for medical equipment to assist animals. The response was so prompt and positive, Mrs Boschetti would have had to add another room to her Geraldton home if she did not close the appeal a week after opening it. “My lounge room looked like a warehouse,” she said. “I got the idea from the Rural and Remote Nurses link and are doing this through Animal Rescue Collective in the east. “They will distribute the equipment to where it is most needed,” Mrs Boschetti said. “I’ve been so overwhelmed at the response from the public, my lounge room is overflowing with supplies. “There were donations from St John Ambulance, St John of God Hospital, medical rooms, pharmacies, one of which gave me seven boxes of goods and another gave me their new supplies, and the public. “I have to sort it, pack it in pallets and send. “There’s often bad news in Geraldton, but there’s many good people here.” Donated supplies included blankets, dressings, bandages, gauzes, creams, ointments and wound cleansers.
